Iron Sharpens Iron
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17 NIV
The sad fact is that many new Christians fail if they don’t quickly connect with the Christian Community and devote time to the doctrine and the bible. I know this because I was one of those that fell on my face in a short amount of time after getting saved. I did not connect with others and quickly the enemies attacks proved too much for me and down I went. If you want to build a strong foundation and live a heathy Christian life, you MUST get into the church and start hanging out with others. Strength comes in numbers!
You might also consider what your listening to and what your watching, new and old Christians alike cannot sustain on Heavy Metal and VH1 videos!
Fortunately, between the internet, AM/FM broadcast radio and even shortwave radio there is a thriving Christian media network you can sink yourself into.
We go to church to learn and worship God, We study the bible to learn and grow in our walk with God, we get baptized to show our commitment to God and we pray to be close to God! If you are doing those, why not listen to something better like some good Christian Contemporary music? We are not of the earth, why eat and drink from it?
So I just got saved, what next?
Not necessarily in any order but, get into church, dive into the bible and Commit yourself to prayer! Prayer is essential for Christian development. Prayer is best done in a quiet place out of the sight of others, a prayer closet it a great idea. This is where you go to spend time with the Father, God. Prayer is a powerful tool where you can change directions, get healed, build up heavenly treasures and unlock heavenly promises and gifts.
Prayer is special, Its you and God all alone. Within the church we have some serious praying people called Prayer Warriors who engaged in deep prayer fighting invisible powers and getting really awesome results such as healing, casting out demons and demonic forces and even reversing fate! The Prayer Warrior is an awesome tool to the church. It takes a long time to become one but they all start the same way, on our knees, in prayer with our Father God!
And finally, you’re a saved Christian! Now that you have built a strong foundation on the rock, have been Baptized and are praying regularly, its time to give to someone else what has been freely given to you! Its time to spread the word of God and save souls.
Lets get Baptized
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ~ Matthew 28:19

Scripture doesn’t leave us guessing about baptism’s importance. The Bible speaks clearly and repeatedly about why we have to be baptized—not as a suggestion but as a command woven into the fabric of our faith journey.
When Jesus gave His final instructions before ascending to heaven, baptism wasn’t an afterthought. He told His disciples, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19-20). These weren’t mere words but a commission that would shape Christian practice for millennia.
The early church took this command seriously. On the day of Pentecost, when the crowd asked Peter what they should do in response to the gospel, his answer was straightforward: “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). That very day, 3,000 people responded by being baptized.
What strikes me most about baptism in Scripture is how it portrays our union with Christ. Paul explains this beautifully in Romans 6:3-4: “Don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
Jesus Himself modeled baptism not because He needed forgiveness, but to “fulfill all righteousness” (Matthew 3:15). If the sinless Son of God submitted to baptism, how much more should we follow His example?

Are you struggling with sin or Indulging in sin?
There is a difference between struggling with sin and indulging in sin. Every single Christian will at some point in their walk struggle with sin. That’s just life! Repent and turn to Jesus, Pray for it to be loosened in heaven, pray that it be bound in heaven! Matthew 18:18

Just because we have decided to follow Jesus does not mean we are now sin free. It means that Sin can’t kill us because Jesus death and resurrection defeated death from sin. This doesn’t tell us either to continue sinning. Actually in Romans 6 Paul very clearly tells us to stop engaging in behaviors that makes us sin. He says we live in the spirit NOT the flesh.
The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.
- Romans 6:10
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. ~ Ephesians 6:12
I have struggled with battling sin vs. indulging in it. And I can tell you, indulging in sin will kill or take you from Jesus faster than you can think. The bible tells us the closer we are to to the end times the worse this will become.
What is the Gospel and why’s it so important?
The word gospel means “good news,” so the gospel of Christ is the good news of His coming to provide forgiveness of sins for all who will believe (Colossians 1:14; Romans 10:9). Since the first man’s sin, mankind has been under the condemnation of God (Romans 5:12). Because everyone breaks God’s perfect law by committing sin, everyone is guilty (Romans 3:23). The punishment for the crime of sin is physical death (Romans 6:23) and then an eternity spent in a place of punishment (Revelation 20:15; Matthew 25:46). This eternal separation from God is also called the “second death” (Revelation 20:14–15).
The bad news that all are guilty of sin and condemned by God is countered by the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. God, because of His love for the world, has made a way for man to be forgiven of their sins (John 3:16). He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to take the sins of mankind on Himself through death on a cross (1 Peter 2:24). In placing our sin on Christ, God ensured that all who will believe in the name of Jesus will be forgiven (Acts 10:43). Jesus’ resurrection guarantees the justification of all who believe (Romans 4:25).
The Bible specifies the content of the gospel message: “Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time” (1 Corinthians 15:1–6). In this passage, Paul emphasizes the primacy of the gospel—it is of “first importance.” The gospel message contains two historical facts, both supported by Scripture: Christ’s death and His resurrection. Both those facts are bolstered by other proofs: Christ’s death is proved by His burial, and His resurrection is proved by the eyewitnesses.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is the good news that God provided the way for man to be freed from the penalty of sin (John 14:6; Romans 6:23). Everyone dies physically, but those who believe in Jesus Christ are promised a physical resurrection unto eternal life (John 11:23–26). Those who reject Christ will not only die physically but will undergo a “second death,” which the Bible describes as an eternal lake of fire (Revelation 20:13–14). Jesus is the only One in whom salvation can be found (Acts 4:12).
The gospel of Jesus Christ is the best news anyone will ever hear, and what a person does with this news will determine where he or she spends eternity. God is calling you to choose life. Call on the name of the Lord and be saved (Romans 10:13).
Now get out there and Save Souls!
As Christians we aren’t kin to sitting around doing nothing or sitting in front of the game console all day or hanging out in the clubs all night. We have a greater mission and that mission is to spread the news of Jesus and his very soon return.
You don’t have to be a preacher to do this either. But you do need to be Bible sharp! You are now an ambassador of Jesus Christ so to tell others about him you MUST know him and the way to know him the best is through Prayer, Bible study and your new found church which is the body of Christ.
I wasn’t given the gift of standing on corners in downtown Dallas preaching the word of God to people walking by. And while I can strum a guitar, play a little bass and can tune the snare on a snare drum I am by no means a musician. What God gave me as my gift to spreading the gospel was through writing. I write poetry and have managed to spread the Message of Christ through this website. The point is that we are all different and God will utilize us in different ways, open yourself up to him, he will put you where you are needed the most.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.” – Matthew 5:14-16
